The Challenge

Tabcorp, one of the world’s largest publicly listed omnichannel betting and entertainment companies, operates an extensive distribution network through its media arm, Sky Racing. As the central distributor of all Australian racing feeds and a significant player in global feed aggregation and delivery, they needed a more scalable, agile, and cost-effective way to manage the increasing complexity of its international video workflows.

Previously reliant on traditional fiber infrastructure and third-party services for international feed delivery, Tabcorp faced high operational costs, limited flexibility, and workflow bottlenecks. The existing setup required decoding and re-encoding of feeds for redistribution, adding latency and increasing resource demand. To future-proof its distribution capabilities and reduce reliance on legacy infrastructure, they sought a cloud-native solution that could scale with demand and support automation.

The Solution

Tabcorp selected our Livelink platform for its ability to centralize, orchestrate, and automate live IP video distribution in the cloud. Implemented as a self-serve solution, Livelink enabled them to establish a centralized, cloud-hosted aggregation and distribution point for betting, racing, and sports feeds.

Livelink’s support for multiple protocols, including SRT, RIST, Zixi, and RTMP, allowed Tabcorp to ingest and distribute content flexibly and reliably. With built-in API integrations, the platform connects directly to Tabcorp’s internal business systems, dynamically aligning content distribution with real-time betting activity. When additional resources are needed, for example, transcoding for social media, Livelink allows operators to spin up capabilities instantly without engineering support.

Through this deployment, Tabcorp has shifted from fixed-cost, dedicated fiber lines to a scalable, pay-as-you-go model. The platform simplifies delivery to social media and third-party channels without requiring feeds to be routed back through headquarters, significantly streamlining operations.

The Outcome

Since going live in late 2024, Tabcorp has rapidly migrated numerous feeds to Livelink and continues to expand its usage. The implementation has brought significant operational and strategic benefits.

Automation and API-driven orchestration via Livelink have reduced manual intervention, accelerated workflows, and minimized the risk of errors, contributing to greater overall efficiency. By replacing some international fiber with cloud-based IP transport, they also achieved substantial cost savings and transitioned to a more flexible pay-as-you-go model. The company can now scale its operations on demand. Whether spinning up new resources or adapting to changing delivery requirements without delay, Tabcorp now has the agility and capacity to meet the needs of fast-moving, high-volume live video delivery.

Livelink’s real-time management and monitoring capabilities give Tabcorp greater agility and control over its global distribution network, allowing content to be delivered directly to end destinations — including social media and third-party platforms — without unnecessary round trips through central facilities. This model supports faster time-to-air and more responsive content delivery. Their scale and innovative use of the platform have influenced the development of new Livelink features, such as deeper orchestration capabilities and tools for remote management of off-site resources.

Tabcorp’s adoption of Livelink demonstrates a bold step forward in how racing and betting content is managed at scale. With a future-ready IP-based architecture, they are positioned to expand its international footprint while delivering tailored content faster, with fewer resources.
