Environmental & Sustainability Policy

Chris Perkiss (Head of Operations) is responsible for ensuring that this policy is implemented. However, all employees have a responsibility in their area to ensure that the aims and objectives of the policy are met.

Policy Aims

This policy statement is a means to communicate our policy and commitment both internally within our organisation and externally to our customers, prospective customers, suppliers and partners.

Cerberus Tech endeavours to:

  • Comply with, and where possible exceed, all relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Continually improve and monitor environmental performance.
  • Continually improve and reduce environmental impacts.
  • Incorporate environmental factors into business decisions.
  • Increase employee awareness and training.
  • Develop sustainable, future-proof products for the broadcast and media industry to ensure customers can make environmentally conscious purchases.

The specific criteria and actions that underpin this policy are set out in the rest of this document.

We will:

  • operate a paperless office, and this will be our default approach for all activities. We will only print in exceptional circumstances, and where there is no reasonable alternative.
  • where paper-based materials are the most sustainable option for promotional material, nevertheless seek to minimise its use.
  • seek to buy recycled and recyclable paper products for promotional materials wherever possible.
  • recycle all paper waste generated in the office.
  • encourage the use of digital signatures for documents and agreements requiring signatures.
  • liaise with all suppliers and service providers to ensure that all invoicing, statements and other correspondence are managed electronically.

Energy and Water

We will:

  • through cooperation with our landlord, ensure that our office remains on 100% renewable energy tariff – this has been the case since March 2019.
  • seek to reduce the amount of energy used as much as possible, whilst recognising that we work in a managed office environment where communal energy use is out of our control.
  • switch off lights and other electrical equipment when not in use.
  • heating/air-conditioning will be adjusted with energy consumption in mind.
  • consideration of energy consumption and efficiency of new products will be taken into account when purchasing.

Transportation and Logistics

We will:

  • maintain our flexible working policy to enable staff to work from home or other locations, therefore allowing them to reduce their travel.
  • consider the environmental impacts of any required business travel (i.e. customer meetings, trade shows, etc.), and:
    • only travel when there is a strong business justification,
    • limit the number of employees travelling to an appropriate minimum, and
    • offset carbon emissions from all flights taken.
  • promote the use of travel alternatives such as e-mail or video/phone conferencing, and provide all employees with the required tools.
  • encourage employees to use public transport or bicycles where possible. This includes maintaining membership to the UK Government’s cycle to work scheme.
  • use green couriers where possible for domestic and international shipping.

Waste and Office Environment

We will:

  • through cooperation with our landlord, divert all waste away from landfill by selecting a fully licenced, sustainable, single-stream recycling partner.
  • discourage the use of single-use plastics, or where they are used, ensuring that appropriate measures are in place. For example:
    • products materials used in the office are as environmentally friendly as possible.
    • providing toilet roll for the office which is wrapped in recyclable paper packaging.
    • ensure that all aluminium coffee pods are recycled via the Nespresso collection service.
    • ensure that all cleaning products materials used in the office are as environmentally friendly as possible.

Monitoring and Improvement

We will:

  • develop a reasonable baseline metrics and reporting capability to monitor our environmental performance, focussing on energy, waste and emissions.
  • track these metrics over time and work to improve our performance further.
  • require all employees to attend training to increase their awareness of environmental issues. Refresher training will be implemented on an annual basis.
  • continue to meet and, where possible, exceed all regulatory requirements.
  • review this policy at quarterly board meetings to review performance and potential improvements.

Culture and Environmental Awareness

We will:

  • involve staff in the implementation of this policy, for greater commitment and improved performance.
  • update this policy at least once annually.
  • provide staff with relevant environmental awareness training.
  • work with suppliers, contractors and sub-contractors to improve their environmental performance.
  • require all staff to read this policy, and involve them in its implementation.
  • ensure that our policy is made available on our website and be transparent about our performance, reporting key achievements and progress on our website.
  • take part in industry specific programme and work towards maintaining and improving our score.

Product Development

We will:

  • ensure that all products and service development activity fully considers the environmental impact.
  • identify and address any areas for improvement with our current product or service offering annually.
  • ensure that for future collaborative product development projects, we source and work with partner organisations and/or third parties where environmental due diligence has been carried out.
  • where possible, ensure environmental credentials with supporting data are made available in marketing materials for Livelink and Network 1 (i.e. electronic collateral, the website, etc.) to ensure customers and potential customers are best placed to make environmentally conscious purchases.
