Cerberus Tech has spent more than a decade distributing live linear feeds around the world. Now, the provisioning, orchestration, and automation that power Livelink have been extended upstream into live production with Livelink Studio, an integrated cloud production and master control environment that delivers redundant, broadcast-grade live production engines on demand. In this IAMT TV interview, Chris Clarke, co-founder of Cerberus Tech, explains how Livelink Studio began with a customer request, and how building on the Matrox ORIGIN asynchronous media framework gives it a proven foundation for frame-accurate timing and control. The result is a complete production that broadcasters can launch when they need it, shut down cleanly when the show ends and re-launch for the next event.
Clarke also looks back at Livelink’s origins. It was first built to standardise Cerberus Tech’s own managed services, then re-engineered during the pandemic with an organisation model and a self-service front end, so customers could deploy their own workflows from any browser.
Turning to observability — one of the biggest challenges in the move away from satellite — Clarke and Moote talk about reallocation of C-band spectrum in the U.S. and how broadcasters are moving distribution to IP at a scale of hundreds, and sometimes thousands, of destinations. Clarke explains how Livelink’s custom dashboards turn every platform function into a widget that can be dragged into an infinitely scalable view, and how SMPTE ST 2022-7 protection and failover groups create one stable, protected input from which transcoding, ABR ladders, and packaging workflows can all flow.
