Failover Options
Hitless Switching with SMPTE 2022-7
For workflows where output continuity is an absolute requirement, Livelink supports SMPTE 2022-7 hitless switching between coherent source pairs. By maintaining two identical, time-aligned streams across independent network paths, the platform reconstructs a seamless output in the event that either path experiences packet loss or interruption with no visible artefact, no freeze frame, and no downstream impact.
This mode is suited to the most demanding live production environments such as high-value sports broadcasts, mission-critical news feeds, and contribution paths traversing unmanaged public internet infrastructure where even a momentary output interruption is operationally unacceptable.
Structured Failover Between Discrete Sources
Where coherent source pairs are not available or desired, Livelink supports structured failover logic between entirely separate source feeds. Primary and backup sources are defined within a Failover Group, with the platform monitoring stream health against configurable thresholds and initiating switchover automatically when conditions deteriorate beyond acceptable parameters.
Manual override is available at any point, giving engineers direct control over source selection without disabling the automated protection logic; an important capability during live events where operational judgement needs to take precedence.
